Obituary

Hazel Erdmann, 78, Goodrich, ND died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her Goodrich home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, ND.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.

Hazel LaVerne Sauter was born September 19, 1935 in Goodrich, ND. She was the daughter of Paul and Ottelia (Zoller) Sauter. She was raised in Goodrich, ND where she attended school and graduated in 1954. She married Gordon Erdmann on June 6, 1954. Her first years of marriage were spent farming with her husband north of Goodrich. In 1968 they moved into Goodrich. Gordon continued farming until 1980. At that time, Hazel and Gordon took on custodian duties at Goodrich Public School. When Gordon's health was failing, Hazel took on all duties in 1992. Hazel retired from that job in 2000. She took on custodial duties at the Goodrich City Park where she was employed until her death. She enjoyed doing embroidery work which she sold at craft shows. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed, Sunday School Treasurer, Altar Guild Chairperson, and a member of WELCA. She was a member of the Pioneer Homemakers Club. She loved attending sporting events and concerts in which her grandchildren participated in. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was a Minnesota Twins fan and attended her first game last summer. She took a lot of pride in her work and in her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting on the phone and collecting bells. She also made silk flower corsages for many years.

Hazel is survived by her sons, Randy (Laureen) of Roseau, MN and Kim (LaDonna) of Goodrich; grandchildren: Robin (Audrey) Erdmann of Lincoln, ND, Adam (Beckie) Erdmann of Roseau, MN, Daniel (Kelli) Erdmann of Fargo, ND, Dr. Jenny (Rob) Perala of International Falls, MN and Karissa Erdmann (fiancé Carter Gahner) of Anamoose, ND and great-grandchildren, Lily, Ella, Ashley, Ivy, and Logan.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Jacob and Floyd.
