Obituary

Harry Murray, 90, McClusky died Sunday October 3, 2010 at the Benedictine Care Center, Garrison, ND.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church, McClusky. Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Harry was born on December 3, 1919 at Bowesmont which was near Pembina, ND to Ray and Emma(Wahl) Murray. At the age of six the family moved to the McClusky area. He attended the McClusky Public School. In 1936 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and helped build a dam near Custer, SD. He moved to Park River and also spent some time working for relatives in the Bowesmont area. He married Anetta Helm on June 11, 1941 in McClusky. They lived and farmed in the McClusky area. In 1947 they bought a service station in McClusky and moved into town. They sold the service station in 1950. They purchased a farm south of McClusky and lived and farmed there. He retired in 1998. Anetta died on November 21, 2005. His retirement was spent restoring cars, attending car and threshing shows, square dancing and singing with the Sheridan County German Singers. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served on the church council there. He is survived by two sons, Jim (Mozel) Murray and Ray (Willa) Murray all of Mercer; daughter, June (Gary) Marchus of Bismarck; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Murray, McClusky, Orville Murray, Mandan; sister, Sandra Bentz, Dickinson. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anetta; daughter, Mary Lou Alexander; brothers, Herbert, Ervin and Clarence; sisters, JoAnne Rittenbach, Tillie Lauer, Frances Dosch and Verna Dockter.
