Obituary

Harold Sauter, 79, Harvey, ND died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 3 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Prayer services will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey where visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Harold was born August 12, 1931 at home on the family farm near Anamoose, ND. He was the son of William and Kunda (Ell) Sauter. He grew up on the family farm and attended the White Township School. Harold also attended high school in Anamoose. Harold married Patricia Muscha on June 13, 1955 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey. They lived on the family farm near Manfred where they raised their family. Harold's health was failing and in 1991 and they moved into Harvey.

Harold has been a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church since 1973. He was an altar server and served at masses at St. Cecilia for 17 years. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served as a member on the first Wells County Water Board and served on the Manfred Township Board. He also served on the Harvey Rural Fire Department. He was a former member of St. Augustine's Church in Fessenden.

Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patty of Harvey; nine children, Kathy (Vic) Gonzales, Oakes, Karen (Robin) Dahlgren, Wahpeton, Robert (Becky) Sauter, Washburn, Mary (Randy) Ehni of Wahpeton, William (Penney) Sauter of Hazen, Dan Sauter of Bismarck, JoAnn (Jim) Arneson of Brooklyn Park, MN, Julie (Mark) Kjellerson, Rapid City, SD, Carol (Steve) Selzler of Harvey; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Schmidt of Anamoose, LaVerne Johnston, Arcola, Saskatchewan, Lorraine Thomas, Matthews, North Carolina; brother, Robert Sauter, Sun City, AZ. Harold was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; parents; and a brother Edward Sauter.

It was because of Harold's faith that he was able to accept peacefully the deterioration of his health these past many years. He held tight to his trust in God to bring him to his Heavenly home. God did just that in a peaceful manner on October 30, 2010. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
