Obituary

Harley Alvin Murray, 85 of McClusky passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky on Saturday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m. in McClusky. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday, June 6 at 3 p.m. in Mandan.

Harley was born on the home farm north of McClusky on May 5, 1937 to Ervin and Ruby (Broeckel) Murray. He was the oldest of 14 children. The family later moved to a farm north of Mercer where he attended country school through the 8 th grade.  In 1956 he enlisted in the army and served in Korea until he was honorably discharged in 1958. He married Marlene Stein in 1958. They moved to Minot where he worked for the City of Minot and Ott's Dairy farm until moving back to McClusky in 1963. After his father passed away Harley took over his cream truck business until he purchased the Mobile Service Station.  In 1969 he went to work for Lelm Implement as a diesel mechanic, working at the McClusky and Harvey businesses.

He married Linda Jans August 2, 1985. Together they owned and operated H & L Repair in McClusky for 10 years before Harley retired in 1999.

In retirement he enjoyed his hobby farm, raising sheep (his girls) and chickens. Camping and fishing were his favorite retirement activities. He was happiest when the fish were biting at his favorite lake, New John's.

Harley is survived by his wife Linda; son Steven (Shirley) Murray of McClusky; daughters, Lynnette (Rodney) Fox of McClusky, Anita Trana of Surrey, Alicia (David) Leingang of Bismarck; 7 grandchildren, David, Chantal, Jessie, Stephanie, Kanyon, Dylan, Josie; 5 great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Taegen, Morgan, Kolby and Arthur; 4 brothers, Gerald (Florence) Murray of Steele, Richard Murray of Kansas, Virgil Murray of Bismarck, Merlyne Murray of Turtle Lake; 5 sisters, Sharon (Carmen) Anderson Turtle Lake, Wanda (Allen) Sayler Virginia, Cynthia (Gary) Thiel Washburn, Jennifer (Gary) Fisher SD, Sylvia (Larry) Schell McClusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Lauren, Orrin, Bernard, Junior; 2 sisters-in-law and 1 brother- in-law.
