Gwendolyn "Gwen" Gabbert, 82, Harvey, ND died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND

Gwendoln Marion Rohweder was born on August 16, 1928 at Portal, ND. She was the daughter of Henry and Gladys (Marron) Rohweder. She grew up near Flaxton. Gwen also lived in Montana and in Superior, Wisconsin where she attended her sophomore and Junior years in high school. She returned to Flaxton and graduated from high school in 1946. She graduated from Jamestown College in 1950 and taught school in Red Lodge, MT. Gwen married Ray Gabbert on July 20, 1952 in Flaxton, ND. They moved to Harvey in November of 1952. Gwen was a homemaker and she also worked at Dr. Boyum's and Dr. McLaurin's clinics in Harvey. She also was a bookkeeper at the Harvey Ring Sale.

Gwen's hobbies included fishing, bird watching, playing bridge and traveling. Gwen and Ray spent many winters in Mesa, AZ. Ray died on January 23, 2003. Gwen lived at the Pioneer House in Fargo from 2005 until returning to Harvey in 2008. She entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in July 2010.

Gwen was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Wells Eagles Auxiliary.

Gwen is survived by two daughters, Linda (James) Hohertz, Christine, ND, Ellen Gabbert of Harvey; two sons, Paul Gabbert of Phoenix, AZ and John (Lisa) Gabbert of Rosemount, MN; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ray.
