Gordon Oscar Felchle, 88, Goodrich, ND, died peacefully surrounded by family at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, ND, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the Goodrich Baptist Church in Goodrich, ND, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jim Grupp and Reverend Ron Seibel officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey, ND, with a prayer service at 7:00.

Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.

Gordon was born in Goodrich, ND, to Barbara (Mauch) and Fred B. Felchle on May 28, 1930. He was the second son born to Barbara and Fred B. He attended Goodrich Public School and graduated in 1948 from Goodrich High School. Gordon accepted the Lord as his personal Savior when he was 22 years old on April 6, 1952 and was baptized at Brush Lake on April 18, 1952.

Gordon married Martha Dockter on September 7, 1952, in McClusky, ND. Gordon entered the army on May 9 of 1956 and was honorably discharged nearly two years later. He proudly served in Korea from April of 1957 to April of 1958. When Gordon returned to the family farm south of Goodrich, he and Martha worked with a dairy and grain farm operation. Gordon dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gordon had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with anyone.

Gordon was a member of the First Baptist Church in McClusky, ND, and later in Goodrich, ND. Gordon responsibly contributed by serving on many civic boards: Goodrich Shipping Assoc. (6 yrs), Farm Bureau (8 yrs), Goodrich Farmer's Elev. (11 yrs), FmHA (6 yrs), Sheridan County ASCS (13 yrs), Goodrich School Board (6 yrs), Capital Electric (15 yrs), Human Services of Bismarck (15 yrs), County Commissioner (12 yrs), Social Services-McClusky (6 yrs), Sheridan County Weed Board (4 yrs), and Sunday School Teacher (20 yrs). Gordon was a member of Albert Block American Legion Post No 56 for over 30 years. He served as Chaplain from 1999-2014. Gordon cared deeply about his community.

Gordon will be dearly missed by his family and friends including his wife of 66 years, Martha Felchle of Goodrich, ND; daughter Karen (Wes) Black of Rugby, ND, daughter Karla (Jim) Barkman of Soldotna, AK, daughter Kimberly (Dave) Waale of Dilworth, MN, and son Ken (Kristi) Felchle of Soldotna, AK; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Bartsch, Amanda (Brandon) Halverson, Kristine (Jeff) Thompson, Kayla (Kelly) Gjovig, Cameron (Nikki) Schneider, Colton (Gabby) Schneider, Madelyn Barkman, Annie Waale, Nicholas Waale, Connor Felchle, and Carter Felchle; 10 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brooklyn, and Gavin Bartsch, Liam and Leo Halverson, Brynn, Channing, and Piper Gjovig, and Kayden and Bradie Schneider.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Alvin Felchle; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; cousins; nieces and nephews.
