Glen was born on March 6, 1938 at Fargo, ND. He was the son of Elleric and Fern (Jones) Giroux. He grew up near Robinson and graduated from high school there in 1956. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Philippines and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1958 and returned home to Jamestown where he worked on construction and for the State of North Dakota. Glen moved to Minot in the early 1960's. Glen married Dianne Koble on November 9, 1968 in Anamoose, ND. They lived in Minot and moved to Sawyer in 1974. In Minot, Glen worked as the assistant manager at the Clarence Parker Hotel, assembling aircraft components at the Lockheed plant, as a salesman and truck driver for Marson Distributing and Holiday Inn Riverside. He retired after working for several years at Dakota Drug.

Glen made many friends over the years and was well liked wherever he went. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share a joke with anyone. Playing cards and a game of pool were favorite pastimes. He loved camping, fishing and taking his young family on vacations to many state and national parks while traveling coast to coast.

Glen was an avid reader of books, the daily paper and magazines. He would barely finish a book and have a new one ready to go. Many times over, he read the family's set of encyclopedias, earning him the nickname 'Encyclopedia Dad/Grandpa'. Being well read allowed him to possess the knowledge to answer the many questions put to him.

Glen was a family man and very proud of his two daughters, six sons and twelve grandchildren. He enjoyed all the picnics and family gatherings. He and Dianne enjoyed several trips after he retired and he loved sharing the stories about the trips

Glen was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church.

Glen is survived by his wife Dianne of Sawyer; eight children, Lynette (Paul) McGeary of Springfield, CO, Mark of Yuma, AZ, Renae (Henry) Lemar of Minot, Eric and Craig (Shelly) of Burlington, ND, Brent of Great Falls, MT; Jeremy and Nathan both of Minot; 12 grandchildren, Damon (Katelyn), Kallysa, Tucker, Cooper, Kyla, Griffin, Mason, Hudsen, Tyler, Hunter, Sydney and Haiden; brother, Daniel Giroux and sister, Patricia Schuldheisz both of Jamestown.
