Obituary

Gertrude Speck, 85, San Dimas, CA formerly of the Manfred, ND area died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at a West Covina, CA nursing home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20 at Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey with interment in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Harvey.

Gertrude Opal Speck known as "Trudy" to her family & friends passed away Wednesday March 30, 2011 at Clara Baldwin Stocker Home in West Covina, California surrounded by family.
She was born on July 12, 1925 to Sarah Rodne Georgeson and Lawrence M. Georgeson. She was one of four children born and raised on the family farm in Wells County, North Dakota. She graduated from Fessenden High School and went on to Minot State College where she earned her teaching credentials. She taught in a country school for 3 to 4 years and after marrying she moved to Southern California in 1948. Trudy was a very independent and busy lady, working at Pacific Bell, AAA Insurance, and the Los Angeles School District. Trudy was working for the Forest Lawn Mortuary in Glendale California when she retired.
She especially enjoyed her two sons. Trudy always supported their many sports and activities, and made time to attend their baseball games and track meets as they grew up. Trudy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her many friends.
With Trudy's retirement she enjoyed her China painting club, of which she was a very accomplished painter. Trudy was able to do some traveling, and loved watching her favorite baseball team, the California Angels.
Trudy is survived by her sister Eunice Peterson, son Larry Speck his wife Sheila; Grandson Jason Speck his wife Hilary; Granddaughters Heather Speck, Kerri Speck Marks, her husband Paul; Jennifer Perkins her husband Jeff; Great-grandchildren Maggie and Esme Marks, Oliver and Rosemary Speck and her many nieces and nephews.

Trudy's parents, her brother Marlyn, sister Lorraine and son Douglas preceded her in death
