Gertrude Dunham, 94, Harvey, ND died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the spring at Knox Lutheran Cemetery, Knox, ND.

Cecelia Gertrude O'Connell was born on May 17, 1922 at Devils Lake, ND. She was the daughter of William and Jessie (Winters) O'Connell. The family lived in the York area where she grew up and graduated from the York High School in 1940. She married Edgar Dunham on December 2, 1944 in Leeds, ND. They lived in the Wolford area for ten years before moving to Rugby. He died in 1974. Gertrude lived in Rugby for 39 years. While living in Rugby she worked as a cook at the Ideal Café and Hiway 2 Café; managed the café at Rugby Livestock; was a postal employee; was a civil service employee at the Minot Air Force Base; and was a bookkeeper at Leevers Foods in Rugby. She retired in 1994 and moved to Bismarck where she became president of the Eagles Auxiliary in 1997. She then moved to Minot. While living in Minot she was an avid quilter at the Hope Lutheran Church in Surrey. Gertrude moved to Harvey after the Minot flood in 2011 and to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in May 2014.

Gertrude is survived by a son Cameron of Souris, ND; two daughters, Wilhelmette (David) Arnold of Harvey, ND; Michele O'Kelley of Kansas City, MO; foster child, Doyle (Vicki) Jelsing of Mora, MN; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Francis O'Connell; sister Mary Catherine Jahn; infant grandson, Matthew Arnold.
