Geraldine (Gerry) Schneider 84 of Goodrich went to be with her Savior on Thursday April 10, 2014 at the Sanford Hospital in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 17, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Goodrich at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.
Geraldine was born on November 13, 1929 near McClusky. She was last of 12 children of Emanuel and Eva (Opp) Bauer. Geraldine grew up and attended rural school near McClusky and the later attended McClusky Public High School. Gerry married Vernon Schneider on December 3, 1948. They lived and farmed in the Goodrich and Hurdsfield area until Vernon and family moved to Valley City where he attended college at Valley City State College. He then attended the North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During this time Geraldine helped support her family by working at cafes. She also managed the Hurdsfield and Goodrich Café s, and served as head cook at Crystal Springs Baptist Camp for many summers. All during their married life Geraldine continued to work at Vernon's side on the family farm and in his ministry. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening and sewing for her family. Geraldine was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goodrich.
Geraldine leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Vernon of Goodrich; daughters, Genadean (Terry) Holland of Bismarck, Julie (Darrell) Hartman of Goodrich; son, Vernel Schneider of Soldotna, Alaska; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Georgiana; infant sons, Vernal and John Schneider;; eleven siblings, her twin Geniveve, Art (died in infancy), Alvin, Earl, Alice, Leona, Emil, Dettmer, Emanuel Jr., Martha, and Lloyd.
