Geraldine Dethloff, 83, of Harvey, died Saturday August 1, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 8, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday August 7, 2015 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Geraldine Effie Appelt was born on September 11, 1931 near Clifton, ND in southern Pierce County. She was the daughter of Emanuel and Pearl (Woodring) Appelt. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. Geraldine graduated from Harvey High School in 1949. She attended Minot State University and received her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools in the Drake and Martin areas. Geraldine married John L. Dethloff on December 7, 1956 in Harvey. They spent their lives working together on the family farm southeast of Harvey, while raising their three children. Geraldine entered the St Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey in 2009.
Geraldine was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Harvey. She also belonged to the Four Corners Homemakers Club.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, John; son, Bruce (Cheryl) Dethloff of Lake Villa, IL; daughters, Corrine (Mark) Frost of Carrington, ND, Colette (Gordon) Kujava of Newfolden, MN; brothers, Robert (Darlene) Appelt of Martin, ND, Ralph (Julia) Appelt of Tucson, AZ, Richard (Elaine) Appelt, Lake Villa, IL; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Kollman.
