Gerald F. Schroeder, 76, Harvey, ND died Saturday, March 30 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND.

The Celebration Of  Life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND with Dr. Paul Gunderson and Rev. Phil Leer officiating.  Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 5 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND and one hour prior at the church.  Burial will be in the spring in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Gerald "Jerry" was born on October 12, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Gerald and Ada (Olsen) Schroeder.  The family moved to Harvey in 1951 and he graduated in 1960.  He attended the University of North Dakota before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1962.  He served at the Minot Air Force Base and worked on B-52 airplanes.  Jerry married Sheila Roerick on March 31, 1964 in Harvey.  They made their home in Minot until he was honorably discharged in 1966.  They moved to Harvey where he became the general manager and later the owner of Schroeder Furniture.  He retired in 2012.

Jerry was a member of the Harvey Ambulance Service from 1972 to 1992 and held many local and state positions.  He was also a Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster with the Harvey Boy Scouts.  Other Harvey memberships included Wells Eagles Aerie Post #3080, American Legion Post # 28, Harvey AmVets Post 17, Harvey Area Chamber of Commerce; Jaycees and Lions Club.

Gerald is survived by his wife; daughter, Jodi (Steven) Meckle of Hastings, MN; son, Jade of Harvey; grandchildren, Lauren Meckle of Eagen, MN and Ashleigh (Blake) Field of Sartell, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are preferred to the Harvey Ambulance Service; Harvey Boy Scouts of America Troop 534; or the charity of the donor's choice.
