Gerald Reimche, 83 of Harvey died Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the New Life on Main Church of Harvey on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday August 9 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.

Gerald James Reimche was born on March 16, 1943, in Harvey, North Dakota, to Roy and Esther (Bich) Reimche. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Harvey; he attended the Mennonite Brethren Church and country school when he was young. Gerald is the second-oldest child of six siblings. Gerald married the love of his life, Diane Hazel Olson, on July 3rd, 1966, at the United Pentecostal Church in Harvey. Together they raised five children, Stacy, Lisa, Jamie, Kristi, and Amber.

He really loved old muscle cars, motorcycles, and trucks. He had many old cars and trucks in his life, including a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a 1969 Orange Chevrolet pickup, a 1985 Blue Chevrolet pickup, and a 1967 Black Buick that was put in a movie called Feeling Minnesota. He took pride in all of his vehicles; he enjoyed fixing and washing them to keep them looking sharp and in good condition.

Gerald served in the Army National Guard for six years from December 21, 1964, to December 21, 1970. He worked for the City of Harvey for forty-four years, from 1969-2013, serving the community by cleaning the streets, keeping them safe, and welcoming everyone who drove, walked, and lived in town. Many people in the city know him as the “Blade Man” and “Big G”. Gerald was a jack of all trades; he could do just about anything, whether it was repairing or building something, from mechanics to carpentry work; he was the man to get the job done. Gerald had a strong work ethic and a willingness to help many people in the community on or off the clock. After retirement, Gerald was known by many for cruising the streets of Harvey and stopping at various places to chat with friends. Some of his favorite places to stop were Millers Clothing, Harvey Motor Services, the old Town & Country, and the Selz Bar, where he visited with his long-time friend, Joe Goldade, and many other special friends.

Gerald was a wonderful and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, friend, and uncle, willing to lend a hand with anything from fixing a broken-down vehicle to helping his children and grandchildren out financially. Gerald had a generous heart for his family and friends. When someone in the family needed help, he was the first person everyone called, always willing to lend a hand to the people he loved. He enjoyed calling friends and family on the phone to talk; he got a chuckle out of cracking jokes with others and often made his family and friends laugh with his wit and humorous sayings that only he could pull off.

Gerald James Reimche is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty years, Diane Reimche; children, Stacy, Lisa (Trevor Vandehoven), Kristi, and Amber Reimche; grandchildren, Larissa Hoaglund (Joey Laber), Jeremy Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Jaiden Underdahl, Adisyn Vandehoven, Mya, Aysa, Cashton, Zander Reimche-Nelson, Layne Roller; great-granddaughter, Raelynn Laber; siblings, Jerome (Mary Kay) and Danny (Karin) Reimche, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Jamie Gerald Reimche; father, Roy Reimche; mother, Esther Reimche; brothers, Curtis Reimche, Duane Reimche, and his sister, Geraldine (Dallas) Knodel.
