Gerald Peak, 83, Bismarck formerly of Hurdsfield, ND died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Hurdsfield Community Center, Hurdsfield, ND.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hurdsfield, ND.

Visitation: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Gerald also known as Gerold was born on March 26, 1934 in Hurdsfield, ND.  He was the son of Alfred J. and Marie (Miller) Peak.  He grew up in the Hurdsfield area and attended school there.  As a young man he joined the Army with his twin brother Gayle.  He was carpenter while in the army and served from February 1957 until being honorably discharged in January 1959.  He returned to the Hurdsfield area and worked road construction for several years.  He was also a carpenter and built several homes in the Hurdsfield area.  In addition to farming, he owned and operated an excavating business in the area.  He owned a Piper J 3 airplane and was an avid fox and coyote hunter.  He retired in 1986 and moved to Bismarck.  Gerald was devoted to caring for his mother until her death in 1999.  He continued to live in Bismarck where he socialized at the malls and drank coffee with his friends at McDonalds.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  His parents; a sister Rose Meier; and brothers Richard, Gayle, Vearl and Kenneth preceded him in death.
