Gerald "Jerry" Jans, 56, rural Denhoff, ND died Thursday, December 26, 2019 near his farm home of natural causes.

Services will be held at First Lutheran Church, Harvey on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Jerry was born on October 10, 1963 in Harvey, ND to Theodore and Leona (Schlender) Jans. He was once married to Belinda Ding and they had two children, Joshua Gerald and Leah Rose. As a kid Jerry grew up on the family farm south of Anamoose where he attended school in Anamoose and Harvey. As a teenager he loved to drive around in his Challenger and Javelin Cars. Jerry graduated from Anamoose High School in 1981. After that he continued to farm with his parents until 1995, which included using his own built H1100 hay buster. After farming, Jerry started driving truck. He hauled grain and pulled a flatbed for Loehrke Trucking and later pulled a refrigerated trailer until about 2014.

As far as hobbies went Jerry loved to hunt, especially pheasants because opening weekend was always on his birthday. Along with that he enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, and fishing whenever he had free time and of course working on  derby cars with his son. Along with that if anyone knew at least one detail about Jerry it was that he would involve the family dogs every chance he had.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Leah of Harvey, ND; son, Josh of Bismarck; mother, Leona Jans of Harvey; sisters, Kathy (Milton) Hase of Martin, Diane (Jeff) Hase of Minot; several nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Theodore.

Memorials are preferred in care of Leah Jans.
