Genevieve "Genie" Heisler 82, of Rugby formerly of Harvey and Esmond died Monday May 7, 2012 at a Rugby Nursing Home.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday May 10, 2012 at 10:30 am at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey.

Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Prayer services will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be the church cemetery.

Genevieve was born January 3, 1930 near Balta, ND to John and Catherine (Schwan) Neiss. She grew up and attended rural school south of Balta. Genie married Leo Heisler on October 22, 1947 in Esmond. They lived and farmed south of Esmond before moving to Devils Lake in 1954. They moved to a farm north of Esmond in 1956. They retired and moved into Harvey in 1990. Leo died on November 30, 1994. Genie continued to live in Harvey until moving to the Haaland Home in Rugby in 2009. She entered the nursing home at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby in January 2012.

Genie was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, Bingo and visiting on the phone.

Genie is survived by her two daughters, Linda and husband Leonard Bischoff of Towner, ND, Patricia Haines and friend Ron Wagner of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, John Neiss of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; four sisters, Bergetta (Emanuel) Hager of Harvey, Arlene (Vance) Castleman of Minot, Lorraine (Archie) Schwan of Balta, Beverly (Duane) Anderson of Antlers, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Dennis Aberle of Ellensburg, Washington; sister-in-law, Elaine Neiss, Balta, ND. Genie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Leo Neiss; three sisters, Kathleen Aberle, Theresa Kraft and Beatrice Neiss; brother-in-law, Frank Kraft.
