Gene Graumann 65 of Harvey died Thursday at the St. Aloisius Medical Center of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Harvey on Tuesday February 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.
Gene was born on July 26, 1947 in Harvey. He was the son of Garfield and Florence (Frueh) Graumann. He grew up and attended school in Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1965. Gene married Theresa Faul on April 20, 1968 in Harvey. They lived and farmed west of Harvey. As a young man Gene also worked at Harvey Motor Service and Liebelt Clothing both of Harvey. Gene started Graumann Oil in 1988 which he later sold. Gene retired from farming in 2000. Gene purchased Bechtold apartments in 2002 which he renamed to Graumann apartments.
Gene was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Wells Eagles Aerie 3080 both of Harvey.
Gene followed area high school sports and was a Hornet fan. Gene was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan, having attended many games during his lifetime.
Gene enjoyed fishing, pinochle, spending time with his grandchildren and a trip to the casino.
Gene is survived by his wife, Theresa of Harvey; sons, Travis Graumann of San Francisco, CA, Tanner (Kayla) Graumann of Enderlin, ND, Tyler and Meghan Graumann of Harvey, ND; 4 grandchildren, Skylar, Brooklyn, Franklin, Cecilia; brother, Tom of Pillager, MN; sisters, Bonnie Fadenrecht of Hays, Kansas, Celi Bachmeier of Bottineau, Karen Emter of Glen Ullin, Janell Blade, Hudsonville, MI.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Trent.
