Gary "Butch" Mindt, 70, Goodrich, ND died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, ND.  Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.  The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Family Service from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 at the Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey, ND.

Gary Donald Mindt was born on September 16, 1950 in Harvey, ND.  He was the son of Alvin and Emma (Eiselen) Mindt.  He spent his childhood growing up on a farm and attending rural school. After his father's death the family moved into Goodrich where he continued attending school.  Gary's career as a mechanic began at Martel Snowmobile Sales in Goodrich where he worked on snowmobiles and cars.  He also worked at John Deere Machine Implement in Goodrich.  Gary moved to Velva in 1976 and was a mechanic at the John Deere dealership. In 1981 he was in a motorcycle accident resulting in him becoming disabled.  Gary spent months in rehabilitation relearning how to walk and talk and was eventually able to live on his own in Bismarck and Mandan.  He entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in April 2019.  His hobbies included anything with a motor!  He would work on cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles prior to his injury.

Gary is survived by his brothers, Roger (Danette) of Jamestown; Arden "Skip" (Trish) Mindt of Goodrich; sisters, Connie Erdmann of Goodrich, Kathy Mindt of McClusky; Marlys (Rodney) Loken of Velva; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Leland Mindt.
