Freida Feickert, 90 Goodrich, ND died Friday, May 4, 2018 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8 at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, ND.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.
Freida R. Feickert was born November 22, 1927 to Gottlieb and Louisa (Schramm) Mertz. She was raised in Mertz Township, Sheridan County with four brothers and two sisters on the family farm. Freida was baptized at St. Jakobus Lutheran Church rural Goodrich and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church of Goodrich. She attended school in Denhoff, and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1946. On June 29 th , 1947 she married Alfred G. Feickert. Freida had many jobs including: running Feickert Our Family Foods in Goodrich with her husband; school secretary at Goodrich Public School; store clerk at Dockter's Red Owl and Doering's Super Valu; and janitor at Peace Lutheran Church. She also compiled and reported the Goodrich News for the county newspaper, The McClusky Gazette . She was a charter member of Pioneer Homemakers, a 71-year member of the Goodrich American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church, WELCA, Ruth Circle and Bible study. Alfred and Freida were active with the Germans from Russia Society, through which Freida recorded a lot of genealogy information for future generations.
Alfred passed away on June 28, 1993. Freida was a resident at the St. Aloisius Long Term Care Center in Harvey, ND since September, 2012.
Freida is survived by her son, Terry and daughter-in-law Karen, and three granddaughters: Laura, her husband Sam Filler, and children Sydney and Bennett of Bismarck, ND; Heidi, her husband Mat Domier, and children Hunter and Carter of Casselton, ND; and Rebecca Feickert of Boston, MA. And also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, brothers Herbert, Christ, Harold, and Alvin, and sisters Adeline Mattheis and Leona Kuehn Lodmill.
