Frank Doubek, 85, Anamoose, ND died Sunday, March 06, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Martin Lutheran Church of Anamoose on Saturday March 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey on Friday March 11, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.
Frank D. Doubek was born April 5, 1925 near Anamoose, ND. He was the son of John and Emma (Bendick) Doubek. He grew up east of Anamoose and attended the White School. As a young man he moved to Chicago where he worked as a meatpacker. Frank and Edna Eggers were united in marriage on October 7, 1949 at Rugby, ND. They lived in New York City for a year where Frank was a union laborer for a construction company. They returned to North Dakota in 1951 and lived near Clifton and also in Alymer. Frank was employed by the Great Northern Railway and worked on a track crew. In 1957 they moved to Anamoose. He started his carpentry business which branched out to sharpening saw blades, building dog houses, picnic tables, storage sheds and saw horses for retail sales. He retired in 1974. Edna died on January 25, 2011.
Frank was a member of the St. Martin Lutheran Church and Anamoose Senior Citizens. He held other offices in the community including ten years as secretary treasurer for the Anamoose Civic Club, Anamoose City Alderman for four years, past member and twelve year chief of the Anamoose Fire Department and was a lifetime member of the North Dakota Firefighter's Association.
Frank is survived by one son, Johnathan (Kathy) Doubek of Minot; daughter, Tora (August Jr.) Selzler of Harvey; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Esther) Doubek of Anamoose; two sisters, Mary Dockter of Anamoose, Alice Carwile, of Leitchyfield, Kentucky.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, John and Willy Doubek; sister, Emily Doubek; brothers-in-law, David Dockter and Ray Carwile.
