Frances Grad, 90 of Harvey died Friday, April 8, 2011 at the St. Alexius Hospital of Bismarck.
Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Rosary services will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
Frances was born on April 22, 1920 near Drake. Frances was the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Rutten) VanEeckhout. She grew up and attended rural school near Drake and graduated from Drake High School. Frances married Tony Grad on July 15, 1947 in Drake. They lived in Harvey where Frances worked for several businesses including Holwagners Grocery, Kosmos Department Store, Moppit Shop, Super Value, and Borths. Tony died on November 14, 2010. Frances was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and it's Altar Society; American Legion and charter member and past president of the Wells Eagles Auxiliaries both of Harvey.
Frances enjoyed playing cards and visiting on the phone with friends and family. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Rick Rittenbach of Harvey; two granddaughters, Becky (Galen) Wolf, Hernando, Mississippi, Kristi (Tim) Beninga of West Fargo; sister, Angeline Bugge of Two Harbors, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; brothers, Eli VanEeckhout, Emil VanEeckhout, Eddie VanEeckhout, Con VanEeckhout and Bennie VanEeckhout.
