Floyd Murray, 89, of McClusky died Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake, ND.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church of McClusky on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

Floyd was born on May 28, 1934.  He was the 9th of 11 children born to Ray and Emma (Wahl) Murray on a farm 4 miles north of McClusky.  The family moved 3 miles north of McClusky where he attended McClusky School.  He learned about working on the farm and also how to fix almost anything that would break.  His father owned a threshing machine for years and Floyd enjoyed sharing the stories of the hard work it was.  In 1953 he met the love of his life Donna Linder in Turtle Lake.  Floyd was drafted into the army in 1956 and was stationed in Hawaii.  In 1957 he had one month furlough and returned to North Dakota to marry Donna on June 24, 1957, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church near Turtle Lake.  He was discharged from the army in 1958.  He returned to North Dakota, and they lived in Minot where Floyd worked at gas stations and later for a freight company.  Their first child, Lona was born in 1959.  They then returned to McClusky where he purchased his father's trucking company.    Floyd later started a full-time dairy operation on the farm until his retirement.  During his retirement he restored Cockshutt tractors and had two horses to care for twice a day.  Also, during retirement Floyd and Donna enjoyed two trips to Europe, bus tours, and interesting times in their 1957 RV traveling to Minnesota, South Dakota, Colorado, and threshing shows.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Donna of McClusky, children, Lona (Jay) Holen of Minot, Shari Roth and her friend (Gary Berg) of McClusky, Barbara (Jeff) Brenner of Sauk Center, Minnesota, Glenn Murray of McClusky, Joy (Jim) Burroughs, Springfield, Virginia, John and his friend (LaDonna Carlson) of Rangely, CO, nephew, Jonel (Jessica) Linder of Lincoln, ND; he enjoyed their 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ervin, Harry, Herbert, Clarence, and Orville; sisters, Tillie Lauer, Frances Dosch, Verna Dockter, JoAnne Rittenbach, Sandra Bentz.
