Obituary

Esther Dockter 98 of Harvey died Monday June 17, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Harvey on Monday June 24, 2013 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens of Minot.

Esther was born on February 24, 1915 near Lincoln Valley. She was the daughter of Ludwig and Christina (Reille) Braunberger. Esther grew up and attended rural schools near Lincoln Valley. Esther married Jacob B. Dockter on May 30, 1931 in Lincoln Valley. They farmed near Tuttle, Lincoln Valley, Anamoose, and Drake from 1935 to 1947. They moved to a farm south of Anamoose in 1948 and lived there until 1967 when they moved to the Harvey area. Jacob died on January 6, 1982.

Esther worked in the café at the Harvey Creamery, Tastee Freeze and was employed many years by St. Aloisius Medical Center as a Nurses Aid, later baking, cooking and as dietitian in the kitchen. She enjoyed traveling on bus tours, sewing, playing cards, bingo, and casinos.

She is survived by her sons, Duaine (Lyla) of Anamoose, Dwight of Princeton, MN; daughter, Carol Weninger of Harvey; Nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. Brother, Alfred Braunberger, San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Ruth Toner of Maryville, WA.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob; daughter and son-in-law, Arvidell and Marvin Kittelson, son-in-law, Peter Weninger, grandson, Barry Dockter, and great-granddaughter, Kittelson.
