Erna L. Kline, 86, Hurdsfield, died on Sunday, November 18 at the Lutheran Home Of The Good Shepherd in New Rockford.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at the Hurdsfield Community Center, Hurdsfield, ND.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hurdsfield, ND.

Visitation will be at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Erna was born on April 4, 1926 on the family farm near Chaseley, ND to Ervin and Nettie (Hamman) Gutknecht. The family moved to a farm near Hurdsfield in 1930. Erna attended country school and graduated from Hurdsfield High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Emanuel Kline on February 22, 1947 at Jamestown, ND. They lived and farmed south of Hurdsfield. They moved into Hurdsfield in 1962. They continued farming. Emanuel died on October 7, 1994. Erna was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Tuttle and a former member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hurdsfield, Hurdsfield American Legion Auxiliary, and Royal neighbors of America. She enjoyed gardening, reading and walking. Erna's love for her family was so much appreciated by all.

Erna is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Jon) Johnson, Glenfield, ND, Susan (Randy) Frueh, Goodrich, ND, Kathy (Jeff) Freadrich, St. George, Utah; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Gutknecht, Fargo, Arnold Gutknecht, Twin Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Eileen White, Tuttle, ND, Carol Pfaff, Bismarck, ND. Erna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Willard; son-in-law, Terry Reutter.
