Emil Sprenger, 99, of Bismarck formerly of Denhoff, died Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Missouri Slope Nursing Home in Bismarck. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky, ND. Visitation will be in Harvey at Hertz Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Emil was born on September 27. 1924 on the family farm north of Denhoff. He was one of 14 children born to John and Magdalena (Feil) Sprenger. He grew up on the family farm and attended the New German Township # 2 school. Emil served in the Army from June 1946 as a military policeman in the Army of occupation in Japan. He was honorably discharged in October 1947. He returned to Lincoln Valley area to farm with his father, brothers, Herbert and Reinhold and sister Leah Sprenger.
Emil was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion in McClusky. He was a life member of the AmVets Post in Bismarck and former member of the VFW in Harvey. Emil enjoyed gardening, carpentry, mechanic work, and anything John Deere.
Emil is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Henry, Adolph, Reinhold, Martin and Herbert Sprenger; seven sisters, Helena Hornbacher, Olinda Schuh, Freda LaPerna, Anna Cox, Lydia Lummus, Bertha Wing, and Leah Sprenger. Arrangements with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
