Elsie Vietz 97, McClusky, died peacefully March 18, 2010 at St. Vincent Nursing home of Bismarck. Funeral services will be held Monday March 22, 2010 at the McClusky Seventh- day Adventist church at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Sunday March 21 from 2:00-7:00 at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
Elsie was born December 16, 1912 in McClusky. She was the daughter of Helen and John Krein. She was raised on the family homestead north of McClusky. Elsie married Herbert Vietz on June 5, 1938, in McClusky. For the next four years they lived on a farm south of McClusky and then purchased a farm five miles east and 6 miles south of McClusky where they raised four daughters and three sons, in 1985 they moved into McClusky. She retired from the Sheridan Memorial Home after 30 years of service at the age of 82. After the death of her husband of 60 years, Herbert Vietz, she traveled and lived with her children returning to the live the rest of her life in the place she enjoyed working at the Sheridan Memorial Home of McClusky. Elsie had very strong faith in the Lord. She was Dorcus leader, pianist and organist for the church she loved dearly the Seventh-day Adventist Church of McClusky. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and gardening. She loved to entertain her co-workers with an annual Christmas party in her home. She is survived by 7 children, Lauren Vietz, McClusky, Lynn and Eloise Vietz, Bismarck, Kathy and Glenn Reinke, Kulm, Carol Brown, Mandan, Debbie and Wayne Castleberry, Houston, Tx, Leslie Vietz and Theresia Haugan, Bismarck, and Renae and Rick Roberts, Memphis, TN, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents John and Helen Krein, Brothers Rueben, Benny, Lloyd, Eddie and Emil Krein, sisters, Ida Schwartz, Bertha Kruger, Esther Wagner.
