Elizabeth Grad, 79, rural Harvey, ND died on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. CDC recommendations including distancing, hand cleansing, limiting your time spent at the funeral home and staying away if sick will be followed for the visitation. Wearing of a mask to protect yourself and others is also recommended by the CDC and would be greatly appreciated.
A Private funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
Elizabeth "Liz" was born on November 22, 1940 on the family farm in White Township east of Anamoose, ND. She was the daughter of Adam and Ruth (Hanchett) Hager. She attended the White Township School and graduated from the Anamoose High School in 1959. After graduation she worked on the family farm. Liz married Richard Grad on June 3, 1963 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose. The couple made their home on Richard's family farm northwest of Selz. They farmed there until retiring in 2010.
Liz was an avid book reader and particularly liked romance novels. She also did a lot of hand embroidery and quilt making. She enjoyed playing cards, watching TV, collecting glassware and fancy dishes. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.
Liz was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Ladies Auxiliary.
Liz is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard; son, Randy of rural Harvey; daughter, Deanna (Gary) Vossler of Rugby; sisters, Shirley Wilson, Mt. Vernon, TX, LaDonna (Bill) Goodwin of Anamoose, Sharon Lindquist of Williston; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eunice Coles; brothers-in-law, John Coles and Dalton Lindquist and Larry Grad; niece Rose Eckart; nephews James Goodwin and Nathan Grad.
