Eleanor Phyllis (Wentz) Hager, 86, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March, 23, 2014. She was the daughter of Andrew and Magdalena (Schiff) Wentz, born October 13, 1927 in Rugby. She grew up on their family farm southeast of Rugby and attended country school. It is here where she learned the value of love of family and hard work that served her throughout her life.
On October 11, 1949, she was married to John Hager at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. John and Eleanor farmed in the Wolford area until 1964 when they moved to their farm northwest of Selz, where they owned and operated their family farms in both the Selz and Rugby areas for more than forty years. Eleanor was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz. She moved into St. Aloisius Long Term Care in January 2012 due to health reasons.
Eleanor's greatest passion was time spent with her family. She enjoyed frequent visits with them, including annual trips to California for many years. She shared both special celebrations and everyday activities with her family. She gifted her family with the creation of a family tree, writing many letters to gather and assemble the information. She enjoyed the process of reaching out, gaining knowledge, and sharing this information.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and son, Mark, who passed away in 1974. Eleanor will be greatly missed by many. She is survived by her husband, John, four daughters, Donna (Roger) Altepeter of East Grand Forks, MN, Lenora (Greg) Bottom, Granite Bay, CA, Bonnie (Donald) Jundt, Grand Forks, ND, Linda (Rick) Lessard, West Fargo, ND. They have twelve grandchildren, Kris Altepeter in Bismarck, ND, Adam (Jenna) Altepeter, Plymouth, MN, Lindsey (Ryan) Martens, Germany, Carolynne Bottum, Woodland, CA, Katharine (Rick) Harrison, Albuquerque, NM, Genevieve (Scott) Perrett, Granite Bay, CA, Jeremy (Rebecca) Jundt, East Grand Forks, MN, Ryan Jundt, Grand Forks, ND, Tarrah (Jeff) Baars, Mosinee, WI, Jennifer, Andrea and Scott Lessard in West Fargo, ND. They have seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas, and Leah Jundt, Alexis Bottum and Benjamin Perrett, Hannah and Julia Baars. Eleanor was looking forward to the birth of two additional great-grandchildren.
