Edward A. Senger, 95, Harvey, ND died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey, ND.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary Prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14 also at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Edward Aloysius Senger was born on June 21, 1923 on the family farm near Orrin, ND.  He was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Thomas) Senger.  He grew up on the family farm and attended a country school.  Edward served in the Civilian Conservation Corp from Oct. 1941 to March 1942.  Edward married Julia Schaan on January 24, 1944 in Balta.  They farmed in the Devils Lake area from 1945 to 1954. Then  moved to farm near Orrin in Pierce County. He served as Treasurer of the Antelope Lake Township Board until they moved to Harvey in 1978.  Edward's careers were farming and working on the section for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 33 years from 1952 until retiring in 1985.  Edward worked with his wife, Julia and other area parents for rights of people with developmental disabilities through the ARC.  Edward served on the HAV-IT Board as Treasurer from 1980 until 2012.  He enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

Edward was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church.  He was a 3 ^rd Degree Knights of Columbus member and also the 4 ^th Degree Monsignor O'Neill Assembly of the Knights Of Columbus Council where he served as the Faithful Navigator in Harvey.

Edward is survived by his children: Bob (Susan) Senger, Old Saybrook, CT, Bernadette (Ralph) Mahler, Fargo, Fr. William Senger, Flores, Guatemala, Beverly (Kris) Senger  of Valley, Alabama, Edward Bruce (Patty) Senger of Moorhead, MN, Vernon (Linette) Senger of Fargo, Michael (Sheila) Senger of Orrin, Bonnie (Jerry) Daily of Moorhead, Marilyn (Brian) Bjoralt of Fargo, Joseph Senger of Rochester, MN, Julie (Bob) Keller of Harvey and Rick (Kim) Senger of Shakopee, MN; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Monsignor Joseph Senger of Minot, Nick (Bernie) Senger of Rugby; sisters: Betty Burgard, Christine Axtmann, and Jenny Lemer all of Rugby, ND; sister-in-law Lucy Senger of Seattle, WA.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife Julia on June 13, 2010; sons: Valentine and Byron; daughter: Betty; grandson, Nicholas Senger; parents: Joseph and Elizabeth; brothers: Adam, Tony, and Pete; brothers-in-law: Tom Burgard, Peter Lemer and Fred Axtmann; sister-in-law, Regarda Senger.

Edward passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.  May Edward's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Memorials may be given to the Joseph and Elizabeth Senger Endowment Fund for Seminarians or to St. Cecilia Cemetery.
