Obituary

Edward Roerick, 84, rural Harvey died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, ND.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Edward John Roerick was born on August 19, 1930 on the family farm in Pierce County north of Harvey. He was the son of Anton and Josephine (Mosset) Roerick. He grew up and attended rural school there. He entered the army on November 21, 1951 and served in Korea during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1953. He returned to farm with his father for a short time.

Edward married Lyla C. Kjetlien on June 22, 1954 in Rugby. He worked for Souris River Telephone for several years and in 1958 moved to a farm in southern Pierce County. He farmed and operated a dairy operation, semi-retiring in 1987 and retiring several years later.

Edward was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Selz and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Esmond. He enjoyed playing cards with family and neighbors, bowling, hunting and fishing. Edward loved to visit.

Edward is survived by his wife, Lyla; two daughters, Lynda (Sidney) Mack of Fargo, Karen (Kelly) Muscha of Harvey; six sons, Gary (Marvilyn) Roerick of Rugby, Curtis (Arlene) Roerick of Rugby, Richard (Gaylene) Roerick of Harvey, Allen Roerick of Harvey, Robert (Denise) Roerick of Rugby, Mark (Cindy) Roerick of Harvey; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Wentz, Esmond, Agnes Evensen of Fargo, Betty Roerick of Kerrville, TX; brother, Joseph Roerick of Seattle, WA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; son Kent Roerick; brothers, David and Theodore Roerick; sister, Eva Kraft; grandson, Steven Roerick.
