Obituary

Edna Neuharth, 87 of McClusky, ND died Friday, September 29, 2017 at the CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the McClusky Baptist Church, McClusky, ND.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Interment will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.

Edna was born March 8, 1930 on a farm near McClusky, ND.  She was the daughter of Albert and Marie (Bender) Neuharth.  The family moved into McClusky in 1930.  She graduated from the McClusky High School in 1948 as the Class Valedictorian. She was a clerk for the Sheridan County Superintendent of Schools for a time.  She also attended the University of North Dakota.  She resided in McClusky most of her life.  Edna started working as a clerk for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and eventually became the Kidder County Director and then the Sheridan County Director of the ASCS offices.  She retired and continued to reside in her home in McClusky until recently moving to the Sheridan Memorial Home in McClusky.

Edna loved children especially her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephew.  They were all very dear to her and how they enjoyed the games and other activities Edna planned and participated in.  She enjoyed working in her yard and having her Christmas tree and decorations, both inside and outside, "Just right."  Edna was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed baseball her whole life.  She bowled and was in bowling leagues in Steele and McClusky.

Edna was a member of the McClusky Baptist Church and very involved with the children's ministry, "The Whirly Birds." She was the Sunday School Superintendent, church treasurer and the contact person for arranging special events and funeral luncheons at the church for many years. Edna was also very active in the McClusky community having served on the Northland Community Clinic Board, Sheridan Memorial Home Board and the McClusky City Council.

Edna is survived by sisters, Evelyn Peter of Valley City, ND, Marian Branson of Las Animas, CO, Tee Holcomb of Great Falls, MT; brothers, Robert Neuharth of Minot, ND and Alvin Neuharth of Bismarck, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer "Bud", Emil "Ted", Edwin and Herbert Neuharth; sisters, Clara Feickert, Gladys Neuharth and Helen Wahl.
