Obituary

Edith Bohn, 95 of Bismarck formerly of Hurdsfield died Wednesday April 15, 2015 after suffering from a stroke at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday April 18 at the Hurdsfield Community Center.

Visitation will be held at the Hurdsfield Community Center from 12 noon until service time.


Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.


Edith Ellen Strong was born on October 19, 1919 at Heaton, ND to Sidney and Susan (Berry) Strong. She was one of six children. She was raised and educated in Bowdon and graduated from the Bowdon High School in 1938. She had her heart set on attending nursing school in Chicago. But, instead met Charles Bohn while roller skating and fell in love. They were married on December 11, 1941 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Bowdon by Rev. Eidbo. They spent their honeymoon in Carrington. Out of that love came four children, Carol, Chuck, Debbie and Claudia. Edith worked various jobs through the years. She was a telephone operator for Orange Wilson, and a waitress at Bohn's Café and later the Triangle Café. Charles passed away on January 12, 1985 and Edith remained in Hurdsfield until 1987 when she moved to Bismarck to be closer to her children.

Edith volunteered for the Senior Companion Program doing various jobs, her longest being a companion to the disabled at Enable, Inc. She retired from there on her 86th Birthday, after twelve years. She felt at home there and loved and was loved by her clients. Her hobbies included reading, embroidering and playing Bingo.

Edith is survived by her son, Charles K. (Mercy) Bohn of Mandan; daughters, Carol (Ron) Schescke of Holdrege, NE, Deborah (Robert) Moll of Battle Lake, MN, Claudia Bachmeier of Bismarck; 13 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; 3 step great-great-grandchildren; sister, Leota (Hank) Leintz of Fargo; many nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Sidney Strong, Jeannette Goodsell, Ivy Rifenberg, Susan Flowers, son-in-law, Richard Bachmeier.

Edith will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
