Duane Donald Frey, 80 of Denhoff died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Medical Center, Harvey.
Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey on Wednesday June 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 9, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.
Prayer services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Duane was born on June 27, 1934 at Harvey, ND. He was the son of August and Susie (Leintz) Frey. He grew up on the family farm north of Lincoln Valley. He attended country school and graduated from the McClusky High School in 1952. Duane attended Minot State University and received an associate degree in teaching. He taught elementary school and coached basketball in Parshall for two years. He was drafted into the army on October 10, 1956 and received his training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He was stationed in Korea for 16 months before being honorably discharged in August 1958. He returned to Lincoln Valley and began farming with his father and brothers. He was also a bartender at numerous area bars. He retired in 2001 and continued to reside on the farm with his friend James Paulus.
Duane's hobbies included fishing, camping and woodworking. He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends during "happy hour."
Duane was a member of the Albert Block American Legion Post 56 of Goodrich and the Oswald Wohl VFW Post in Anamoose. He was a member of and a past secretary/treasurer of the Anamoose Wildlife Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 5856 of Drake, ND.
Duane is survived by his brother, Donald (LaVerda) Frey of McClusky; sister, Diane (Harold) Bruner of Drake, sister-in-law, Patsy Frey of Bismarck; nieces and nephews; friend, James Paulus of Denhoff.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Frey; sisters, Ethel Frey and Norma Dockter; brother-in-law Ted Dockter.
