Obituary

Dorothy was born February 18, 1950, to Louis and Edith Irene Hunter Vondohlen, the 8th of 11 children.

Dorothy Mae O'Brien Perry went to her rest on February 17, 2025 in Harvey, North Dakota after a long battle with lung cancer.

Dorothy trusted Jesus and remained defiant in the face of that battle. She was no stranger to struggle. After the tragic death of her mother, she and her siblings were placed in the care of the Church of Christ Tennessee Orphan Home in Spring Hill, Tennessee. She married her childhood sweetheart, Steve in 1967. Her daughter Sharon was born in Okinawa, Japan in 1969 where Steve was stationed by the United States Army. Sergeant First Class Steven O'Brien died during the Vietnam War leaving her to raise their daughter Sharon as a single mother. Dorothy received her Cosmetology License and opened two beauty salons and volunteered regularly at nursing homes in the Nashville, Tennessee Metropolitan Area. She married Daniel Perry in 2008. Daniel died in 2013. Dorothy was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer in 2014 and told she only had six months to live. She then relocated to Modesto, California in 2014 to be near Sharon and enjoyed visiting the surrounding cities and beaches. She then moved to Harvey, North Dakota in 2018 and continued her life long hobby of making ceramics. She was kind to and loved giving gifts to her doctors and caretakers. She remained resilient to the end no matter what happened.

Preceded in death her husband and Sharon's father, Steven Eddie O'Brien (1972); Steven's stepfather and mother, Homer Dean (2002) and Myrtle Kathleen King Smith (2002); and husband Daniel Perry (2013); by sisters, Linda Neal and Mary Perry; and brothers, Phillip, Roger and Tommy. Survived by her daughter, Sharon Robison(Jeff), and grandchildren, Gabriella Salome Gay (Ryan) and Joe Samuel Robison; and sisters, Delores Anderson, Pamela Hicks; and brothers, Glenn, Paul and Donnie Vondohlen.  As per Dorothy's request there will be no services held at this time.  Arrangements with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
