Obituary

Dorothy Peerboom, 91, of Anamoose died Monday, December 4, 2023 at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey.  Funeral services will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Anamoose on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.  Visitation will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8 followed by Prayer services 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Dorothy was born on January 26, 1932, at Bergen, ND to Joseph and Mary (Gagne) Weninger.  She came from a family of 11 children.  She grew up in the Anamoose area and graduated from Anamoose High School.  She continued to live at home where she helped with the chores and farming.  Dorothy married Jerome Peerboom on October 6, 1953, in Anamoose.  They lived north of Anamoose where she helped Jerome with farming from springs work to harvest. When they retired from farming, they moved into Anamoose.

Dorothy was a very active member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose.  She attended daily mass and adoration for years. She was a member of the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of Anamoose Senior Citizens including its many exercise programs, a longtime member of the Ideal Homemakers Club and the VFW Auxiliary in Anamoose.  Dorothy loved to entertain, especially at Christmas and during deer season.  She was an excellent cook and was noted for her plachinda and taco fry bread.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jerome of Anamoose; brothers, Donald (Idell) Weninger of Fargo; Joseph (Rose) Weninger of Anamoose; sisters, Marie Boyle of Jamestown and Anna Calkins of Fargo; sister-in-law, Carol Weninger of Harvey; 23 nieces and nephews, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Peter and Edward; sister Helen Marsh, 3 infant sisters, several nephews, nieces and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.  Blessed be the memory of Dorothy Peerboom.
