Dorothy Faul, 87, of Harvey died Monday, July 13, 2026 at the St. Aloisius Nurisng Home of Harvey. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church south campus, formerly known as the Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey, ND. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, Rural Harvey, ND.
Dorothy Louise Faul was born May 21, 1939 in Manfred ND. She was the daughter of Eldon & Emily Sommer. She grew up on the family farm near Manfred. She graduated from Harvey High School in 1957. She married Nick Jerry Faul on September 3, 1957 at the Harvey Mennonite Brethren Church. They lived and farmed on the Faul family homestead south of Harvey until 1982 when they were forced to sell by the Bureau of Reclamation Lonetree Project of the Garrison Diversion Pick Sloan Project. They then moved to their new farmstead south of Harvey. She also worked as a cook for Town & Country and the Harvey Grade School.
Dorothy was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. She was a part of the Mennonite Women's Ministry Service. She was an auditor for Pony Gulch for many years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, crocheting and sewing.
On April 7, 2012 Dorothy married Dean Almer in Cheney Washington. They lived in Mesa AZ and they vacationed in Harvey ND for the summers.
Dorothy is survived by husband, Dean Almer, sons, Frank (Glenna) Faul of Harvey, James (Tami) Faul of Lincoln ND, daughters, Julie (Robert) Bjorland of Harvey, Faye (Brent) Weninger of Anamoose ND: nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nick, and brothers, Lyle Sommer and Dale (Vicki) Sommer.
Dorothy passed away peacefully on July 13th in the St. Aloisius nursing home. Blessed be the memory of Dorothy Faul.
