Dorothy
Bohnet
August 16, 1932 – March 1, 2026
Dorothy Mae Bohnet, 93, of Harvey, ND, formally Hurdsfield, died Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the SMP St Aloisius Nursing Home where she had been a resident since October.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 21, 2026, 10:30 am, at the Hurdsfield Community Center with visitation 1 hour before the service. Burial will be at a later time.
Dorothy was born to Thomas and Gladys Shuler in Elloree, South Carolina. She met and married Allan Bohnet when he was stationed in Elloree during his time in the Air Force.
After their marriage Dorothy and Allan lived in Oklahoma, Michigan, Utah, and North Dakota while Allan worked in the Oilfield and 2 short stays in South Carolina by Dorothy's family. In 1967 they returned to ND to take over the family farm. Dorothy could be found gardening, canning, moving trucks, and bringing lunch and meals to the field. They purchased the Dairy King in Hurdsfield where Dorothy spent much of her time working, helping, and visiting with customers. She especially loved visiting with customers and even after "retiring" you could find them in the DK for afternoon coffee to visit with whomever came in but she always jumped up to help cook or prep if needed. People would come from all over (even other States) for a piece of her famous Rhubarb Pie. She had many hobbies through the years.
She loved her family, friends, and God.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Gladys Shuler, her parents in-law Dan and Dora Bohnet, Granddaughters, Ryan Dockter and Stephanie Sannes, brothers Thomas and Robert Shuler, Sisters Betty Shuler and Mary Ann Stokes and many Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law and loved ones.
Dorothy is survived by her Husband of 71 years Allan, daughters Debra Sannes, Fargo, Dianne (Dennis) Dockter, Fargo, and Denise (Kelly) Dockter, Hurdsfield. 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
The family of Dorothy extends a special thanks and deep gratitude to the staff of St Aloisius Nursing Home - Unit B in the exceptional care, kindness and compassion given to our mother.
In Lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred to Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 292 30th Ave SE, Hurdsfield, ND 58451 or to the charity of your choice.
