Dorothy Anderson, 60, of Harvey, ND died Friday, April 8, 2022 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butte, ND with burial in the Butte Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Dorothy was born November 15, 1961 in Harvey, ND to Albert (Bud) and Helen (Kucera) Swanson the youngest of 4 children. She was raised and educated in Harvey. In the late 70's Dorothy met Terry Anderson they got married April 11, 1980 and had four children. Derek, Miranda, Dana and Mirissa. They celebrated 40 years of marriage April 2020. Terry passed away October 21, 2020.
Dorothy, lived on a farm near Butte where she raised a host of animals. After the passing of her father, Bud in 2000, Dorothy moved back to her childhood home in Harvey.
Dorothy was a "jack of all trades" and loved to cook. She worked at Town & Country in Harvey, Schatz Crossroads and M&S Concessions of Minot. Velva Public School (where she was known for her great tasting homemade buns), Wells Sheridan County Aging, Drake Co-Op Creamery, KHND Radio. She also sold BLAIR, Tupperware and Avon. Dorothy was also a registered veterinary assistant. She and her daughter, Mirissa, volunteered many hours at Central Cinema theater in Harvey. She also helped Mirissa DJ dances as she liked all kinds of music. Dorothy also participated in garden tractor pulling alongside her husband Terry, sons Derek and Dana and daughter Mirissa. She also wrote Poetry which is registered in the National Library of Poetry.
Dorothy was a member of the Harvey Eagles Auxillary and St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Butte.
Dorothy enjoyed Bingo, auctions, rummage sales, gardening with grandsons Terrey and Andrew, decorating for all holidays with Halloween being her favorite.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Derek (Tammy) of Velva, Dana of Butte; two daughters, Mirissa (Tom) Anderson of Butte and Miranda (Rob) Adam of Harvey; six grandchildren, Terrey Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Waylon Adam, Shayla Adam, Colton Anderson, Coy Anderson; mother, Helen Weinmann, Harvey; two brothers Al (Jane) Swanson and Bob (Bonnie) Swanson, Harvey; sister Diana (Doyle) Roe, Burlington, her special dog Suzy Q, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends . She was preceded in death by her husband Terry; father, Bud Swanson; step father Richard Weinmann.
