Donna Mae King, 78, of  Maddock, ND formerly of Esmond, ND went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Esmond, ND with Reverend Gary Fulsebakke officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service.

Donna Mae Norma Butts was born on October 24, 1939 in Maddock, ND to LaVerne and Sylvia Butts.  She grew up in Maddock and Esmond and attended school in both towns.  She graduated from the Esmond High School in 1957.  Donna Mae was united in marriage to Wayne King on January 5, 1958 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond.  They lived in the Hoople and Harvey areas where she was a stay at home mom.  They moved back to Esmond in 1974.  Donna Mae leased and managed the Esmond Café for several years and also the York Café.  Later in life she provided emergency shelter and foster care.  Wayne died on July 7, 2003.  She moved to Devils Lake in 2010 and worked for the Social Security office for over two years. She retired for health reasons and moved to Maddock in 2017.

Donna Mae loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren first and foremost.  She was very active in her churches, Trinity Lutheran Church and later the Christ Free Lutheran Church in Devils Lake.  She taught Sunday Vocational Bible School and Kids Beach Club.  She hosted Bible study in her home for six years while residing in Devils Lake.  She loved gardening, cooking, painting, drawing and writing poetry along with reading and sewing.

Donna Mae is survived by her five children, Perry (Linda) King of Leeds, Kelly (Sue) King of Balta, Mary Lou (Keith) Kurtz of Devils Lake, Scott (Barb) King of Monroe, WA, Misti (James) Arnold of Esmond and her special grandson whom she raised, Damian (Jodi) King of Maddock; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Butts of Egeland and Richard (Sharon) Butts of Nisland, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Leon Butts, Lynn Butts, Sheryl King and Diane Tandeski.
