Don Seltvedt, 69, of Harvey died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church, Harvey on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
Visitation will be at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey on Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 pm.
Public prayer services will be held at 7:00 pm. on Monday at the funeral home
Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.
Don (also known as Butch in his younger years) was born on June 15, 1946 in Minot. He was the son of Ole and Mildred (Hendrickson) Seltvedt. That same year the family moved to Harvey where Don was raised and spent all his high school years, graduating from Harvey High School in 1964. Don was the captain of the football and basketball teams. Don then attended North Dakota State University where he received his degree in Pharmacy in 1969. He worked in Grand Forks, Grafton and Minneapolis .
Don returned to Harvey in 1975 and began farming with his father. While farming he did relief pharmacy in 35 stores in North Dakota and Minnesota making the day for many happy vacationing pharmacists. Don retired from pharmacy and farming in 2012 due to health, fighting a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. In the late 1970's he met Tamera Lunde during a North Dakota blizzard, never knowing he'd meet her again about 20 years later. Don married Tamera Lunde on November 4, 2000 in Fargo.
Don was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Harvey where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie of Harvey. Don was avid NDSU Bison fan and attended many football games and 2, almost 3 trips to the NDSU Bison championship games in Frisco, Texas. He and Tammy loved to travel especially anywhere near water. Hawaii was his favorite. They enjoyed many times spent at their lake home and on the Jet Ski! He also enjoyed visiting presidential libraries.
Don is survived by his wife, Tamera of Harvey; special daughter, Jennifer (Keith Biesma) Vizina of Astoria, NY; step son; Chad Bladow (Crystal Rehder) of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Kyler Biesma; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Jean of Fargo; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and John Lervick of Alexandria, MN; 1 niece and 6 nephews; mother-in-law, Irma Lunde of Hankinson.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Jerome Lunde.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church of Harvey and American Cancer Society.
