Obituary

Don Parsons, 61, Riverdale, ND formerly of McClusky died Monday, May 31, 2010 at a Hazen Hospital. Don died from injuries sustained in a motorcycling accident early Monday evening near Riverdale.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church of McClusky on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in McClusky City Cemetery.

Donald Ross Parsons was born on February 16, 1949 in Bismarck, ND. He was the son of Doran and Hazel (Wold) Parsons. He grew up on the family farm southwest of McClusky. Don graduated from the McClusky High School in 1967 and attended North Dakota State University in Fargo and the Wapheton State College. He lived in Bismarck where he was a salesman at Montgomery Ward for a short time before starting as a salesman for Iseman Mobile Homes. He transferred to Williston and continued to be an Iseman salesman. Don then became an employee and later the manager of Geolograph Pioneer, an oilfield service company in Williston. In 1985 he returned to McClusky and farmed with his father. He was also a carpenter for DH Carpentry of Turtle Lake/Mercer. Don worked with Duane Helm remodeling and building new homes. Don held a private pilot's license and flew his plane often. He was also an avid scuba diver and was on the Williston Search and Rescue Dive Team along with being a member of the Williston Basin Scuba Club. Don was once married to Linda (Helm) Parsons. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, McClusky, McClusky Rural Fire Department, McClusky Sportsman's Club and served as the McClusky Township Auditor. He was an avid gardener and had potted geraniums and other flowers in his yard this past Monday. He enjoyed dancing and taking his family on yearly vacations. He loved spending time with his friends and family and had spent the day with them in McClusky for the Memorial Day events prior to his passing. Don is survived by his daughter, Tami Wahl, Bismarck; granddaughter Caitlyn Wahl; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Deb Parsons of McClusky; nephew Jason Parsons and great nephew, Baylee Parsons both of Gillette, WY. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
