Dennis C. Fibelstad was born on February 26, 1935 in McClusky. He was the son of Jerome and Dagny (Glad) Fibelstad. Dennis was raised on the family farm in Prophets Township northeast of Mercer. He attended school in Prophets Township from 1940-1943. In 1943 he attended school in Mercer and graduated for Mercer High School in May of 1952. From 1952 until 1954 he farmed with his father. From 1955 through 1957 he served in the U.S. Army with the 17th Field Artillery, 8th U.S. Army in Panmunjom, Korea.
Dennis worked for Collins Construction, Coughlin Construction, S&M Construction and Rolfson Construction as a heavy equipment operator from 1957 until 1961. In 1962 he started farming with his brother Percy and worked part time for Rolfson Construction until 1980. From 1978 through 1980 he was employed as an agricultural consultant by Tierica S.A. and Rancho Horizonte in Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica during the winter months. From 1980 through 1997 he worked for Holen Construction as a heavy equipment operator and superintendent. In 1998 he retired from construction and farmed part time.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, trapshooting rebuilding antique tractors and stationary engines.
Dennis was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1326 in Bismarck, ND. Other memberships were NRA, Judicial Watch, Nation Right to Work Committee, American Center for Law and Justice.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Donna of McClusky; step-daughter, Diane (Scott) Holen of McClusky; five step-sons, Bob and Tanna Houser of McClusky, Doug and Sherril Houser of McClusky, Tom and Pam Houser of Mercer, Neal and Berna Houser of Bismarck, Dean and Patty Houser of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; 16 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Percy Fibelstad of Bottineau; sister, Donna (Cecil) Keisacker of Lakota, ND; five nieces and one nephew. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Fibelstad; step-son, Harley Houser.
