Delores Helm, 92, Harvey, ND died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 5 with prayer services following at 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.  The interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Delores was born on July 30, 1932, at home northeast of Harvey.  She was the daughter of John P. and Josephine (Holzer) Muscha.  She grew up there and attended Wells County #2 rural school.  Delores then stayed at home for several years helping on the family farm. Delores married Vernon Helm on October 6, 1953, in Harvey.  Vernon entered the service and was stationed in Hawaii where he was joined by Delores and their son Doug in 1955.  In 1956 after Vernon's discharge, the family lived and farmed south of Martin.  They moved to Harvey in 1981.  Delores cooked at the Harvey Country Club for 10 years.  She also owned and operated Penny Pinchers in Harvey and retired in 2014.  Delores enjoyed cooking, sewing, and making mittens for her daughter's boutique in Bismarck.  Vernon died on October 7, 2019.

Delores was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and its altar society. She taught CCD classes for many years and served as the hand bell choir director at St. Cecilia.  She was a life member of the Anamoose VFW Auxiliary.

Delores is survived by her son, Doug (Toni) Helm of Harvey; daughters, Leilani (Paul) Bienek of Bismarck, Karla (Earl) Snyder of Bismarck; (6) grandchildren, Ronda Meyer, Cheryl Helm, Lindsey Tooley, Shannon Knutson, Christi Beauchamp; and Brandon Snyder; many great-grandchildren.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; brother, Francis; sisters, Adeline Weinmann, Clarissa Reile, Regina Martin, Gloria Muscha; granddaughter, Jessica Helm; 2 sisters and 4 brothers shortly after birth.
