Delma Kost, 85, Martin, ND died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, ND.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday June 13, at the Martin Baptist Church, Martin, ND.
Visitation will be held on Sunday June 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.
Burial will be in the Sawyer Cemetery, Sawyer, ND.
Delma was born on September 1, 1930 in Turtle Lake, ND, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Singer) Fischer. She was raised on a farm south of Mercer. She attended the Mercer School and graduated from high school there in 1948. She attended Minot State University and received a degree in education in 1960. Delma taught in a rural school near Mercer, Denhoff Public School and elementary school in Sawyer. She also taught high school English classes. She taught school from 1950 to 1980 and was also the drama coach, yearbook advisor and school paper advisor while in Sawyer.
Delma married Emil Vietz on December 28, 1950 at the Zion Lutheran Church near Mercer. They resided in Sawyer where they owned and operated Sawyer Lumber. Emil died on Februay 23, 1979.
Delma married LeJune Kost on February 27, 1980 at the Martin Baptist Church. She retired from teaching, and they lived in Martin. LeJune died on March 1, 1989. Delma continued to reside in Martin and was active in the community.
She was a member of the Martin Baptist Church. She served as Deaconess, taught Bible School and Sunday School, sang in the church choir and served on the Mission Committee. She was a member and past president of the Martin Baptist Women's Missionary Fellowship. She belonged to the Anamoose and Harvey Senior Citizen groups and was part of a homemakers club.
Delma is survived by sons Kenneth (Annette) Kost of Harvey, Greg Kost of Chandler, AZ; daughter Candice (Kent) Lesmeister of Harvey; nine grandchildren, Leslie (Derek) Kuehn, Mitchell (Julie) Kost, Scott (Kari) Lesmeister, Kelly (Kari) Lesmeister, Ryan Kost, Logan Kost, Sierra (Edgar) Ontivaros, Taylor Kost, Caitlin Kost, Zackery Kost; great grandchildren, Mikella, Quinn, Carter and Emelia Kost,
Berkley Lesmeister, Mason and Brynlee Lesmeister, Elijah Ontivaros; sister, Doris Fischer of McClusky; two brothers, Wilbur (Anita) Fischer of Warrensburg, MO; Myron (Beverly) Fischer of Bismarck; sister-in-law, Ella Fischer of Bismarck.
Delma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Emil and husband LeJune; one brother, Darvin Fischer.
