Della Hellman, 84, Goodrich, ND died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Medcenter One Prairieview Nursing Home, Underwood, ND.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 1 at the Seventh – day Aventist Church, Goodrich, ND.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky, ND.
Della Luella Vietz Hellman was born June 21, 1927 on the family farm south of Denhoff to Fred and Hilda Vietz. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Denhoff. She later met her soul mate and life-long partner Frank Hellman Jr. They were married in Denhoff on October 15, 1944. They farmed side by side until they retired and moved to Goodrich in 1994. In September 2005 they remained side by side as they moved into the Medcenter One Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood. Della was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Goodrich were she had several church duties. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, playing Rook until all hours and playing Aggravation with her son, Kelly. She was a very loving and caring individual. All the nieces and nephews loved to congregate at the Hellman Farm as it was the happening place. Della was an early riser and enjoyed taking a walk in the morning and bringing home the milk cows. In her younger years she enjoyed attending baseball games at Denhoff in which Frank played. Della was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her love of family and God was always first in her life.
Della is survived by her husband, Frank, Underwood; sons, Gene (Linda) Hellman, Frenchtown, MT and Kelly (Mary) Hellman, Hurdsfield; one daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Jesz, McClusky; Four grandsons, Darrel (Diane) Hellman, Terry (Toni) Hellman, James (Brandi) Hellman and Michael (Lory) Hellman; and four granddaughters; Melissa (Karl) Tebelius, Alicia Hellman, Amy (Mike) Jesz Schnetzer and Jerica Jesz; and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Halverson, Modesto, CA and Viola Schulz, Fargo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Della was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Hilda Vietz; sister, Myrtle Rodacker Boe and three brothers, Clarence, James and Wayne Vietz.
