DeLanis Thomas, 79, of Harvey, ND died Monday, December 21, 2020 at the CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck after a short illness.

Per the wishes of DeLanis and due to Covid 19, a committal service  will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

DeLanis was born on July 19, 1941 at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, son of the late Sebastian and Katherine (Welk) Thomas.  He grew up near Wellsburg and attended the North Fork School No. 2 (Thomas School) and graduated from B.C.A.T.S. in Maddock in June 1959.  He served in the United States Army from 1960 - 1962.  After an honorable discharge, DeLanis began farming with his father and brother on the family farm northeast of Wellsburg.  DeLanis retired from farming in 2009.  He was also an investor in Mamma Maria's Restaurant, in East Grand Forks, MN.

DeLanis married Linda Hausauer, the daughter of John and Esther (Kurle) Hausauer on June 13, 1970 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Selz, North Dakota. They had three children.

DeLanis was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Harvey and served on the Color Guard for many years.  He also enjoyed bowling, driving around looking at crops and gardening with Linda.

DeLanis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda, Harvey; son, Chad, Harvey; sisters, Lenora Thomas, Andover, MN, Helen Schmid, Oberon, ND; several nieces and nephews.  DeLanis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, August Thomas and Victor Thomas; sisters, Ann Gumeringer and LuElla Heilman; and his son, Jason Thomas.
