Darleen Filler, 85 of Cocoa, Florida formerly of Martin died Monday November 16, 2015 at her son's home in Florida.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Mennonite Brethren Church of Harvey at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.
Darleen was born on August 10, 1930 in Denhoff, ND. She was the daughter of Michael and Lydia (Moser) Gesellchen. Darleen grew up and attended school in Denhoff, graduating in 1948. She married Roy Filler on October 3, 1948 in Denhoff. They lived and farmed near Lincoln Valley. Darleen helped with the farming and milking cows. In 1964 they moved to Whitefish, Montana and bought tourist cabins. While living in Whitefish she worked in the Whitefish hospital as a nurse's assistant. They moved back to North Dakota in 1969. At the age of forty, Darleen went back to school and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked in homes and helped out on the farm. They moved from the farm to Martin in 1971.
Darleen enjoyed gardening, yard work, baking, and sewing quilts for the church annual mission sale. She also made small quilts that were given to needy children. She enjoyed puzzles, fishing and hunting with her husband. Roy died September 11, 2012.
Darleen was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Harvey. She loved her family and friends, and the Lord.
Darleen is survived by her son, Steven (Kathy) Filler of Cocoa, Florida; granddaughters, Heather Stevens, Kristianna Thompson, four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael Gesellchen of Goodrich, Larry Gesellchen of Pahrump, NV; sister, Norma Helmer of Lynwood, WA.
Darleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; brothers, Harold Gesellchen, Vernon and Jackie during infancy; sisters, Marlene Lancto, and infant sister, Adeline.
