Darlene Margaret (Vetter) Axtman, 71 of Selz, ND passed away the morning of May 26, 2023, at St. Aloisius Medical Center, Harvey, ND surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz, ND.  Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1 followed by a rosary/prayers service at 7 p.m. at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Darlene was born November 3, 1951 in Harvey, ND to Joseph and Katherine (Kroll) Vetter. Darlene grew up on a dairy and beef farm near Selz, ND. She was the youngest of four children born to Joe and Katie. She attended country school and finished at Harvey High School. She later attended Jack's Hair Stylist College, Minot, and worked for Barb's Beauty Salon in Harvey. Darlene was united in marriage to Jerry Axtman on October 1, 1971. They made their home on the Axtman farmstead and they were blessed with two sons that were the highlight of her life. Darlene helped with milking, cooking, and on the farm whenever she was needed. She owned a beauty shop at the farm until the boys got busy with sports. She then started working at B52's as a waitress for the next 10 years. Darlene worked as a Para Educator at Harvey Elementary for over 1years. Right before her diagnosis with cancer she worked for Tiny Tots Daycare where she cherished working with the children. She belonged to Selz Patient Homemakers Club and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, The Christian Mothers and Catholic Order of Foresters. Darlene's hobbies in the winter included crocheting and she enjoyed having Jewl and Sassy, her chihuahua dogs, sitting on her lap while reading a book. In the summer she loved her flower beds, four-wheeler riding and evening bonfires. Her greatest joy was meeting her great granddaughter, Adlee. She held her proud as her face glowed with happiness.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry, Selz; two sons, Jerod, Selz, Travis (Kari) Axtman, Milnor; two grandchildren, Hailey (Bo) Axtman, Lisbon, Cougar Axtman, Milnor; great-grandchild, Adlee Grace Gregor; sister Gladys (Linus) Hager, Harvey, brother, Steve (Linda) Vetter, rural Selz; mother-in-law, Anne Axtman, Selz; brother-in-law, Francis Seefeld, Fargo; nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Katie Vetter; sister Sally Seefeld; father-in-law Andy Axtman.
