Daniel Williams, 74, Harvey, ND died at his home of natural causes on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be Tuesday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Burial will be later in Riverside Cemetery, Eckman, ND.

Daniel was born on July 10, 1947 to Thane and Elsie (Albertson) Williams.  Daniel became ill as an infant which resulted in lifelong issues.  He continued to live in the Maxbass area before moving to Capitola, CA where he attended school. The family returned to the Maxbass area where he lived with his sister Sharla and foster sister Kathy.  He later moved in with Kathy and she was his guardian for several years.  Dan later moved to Jamestown and in 2013 he moved to Harvey and resided at the Jackson Avenue residence until his passing.

While receiving services from HAV-It in Harvey, Dan went to work at the recycling center in Harvey and was very proud of the fact he could go to work and earn money.  He created many bonds with his coworkers.   He participated in Special Olympics and played Bocce Ball and was on the basketball cheer team.

Dan loved life and people. He attended the First Lutheran Church in Harvey and enjoyed "Breakfast with the boys" on Wednesdays at the church.  He was known for his fist bumps and being a greeter at First Lutheran.  Dan loved interacting with kids and many HAV-IT staff introduced their children or nieces or nephews to him. The Covid pandemic limited Dan's social interactions, but he started writing to his pen pal Josslyn and kept in touch with family and friends using his computer and I pad.  He also attended many auction sales where old western items and old transistor radios caught his interest.  He also loved buying tools such as hammers and screwdrivers, bolts, nuts and screws. Dan loved animals especially dogs.

Daniel is survived by a sister, Sharla (Mike) Colebank of Lafayette, LA and foster sister, Kathy Forbes of Burlington, ND.  He was preceded in death by his parents Thane and Elsie (Albertson) Williams.

The family would like to thank the HAV-IT Staff for the care and compassion they showed to Daniel for many years.
