Dan F. Bienek, 71, Harvey, ND went to be with the Lord on  Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey with military rites provided by the North Dakota National Guard Funeral Honors Team and the Harvey American Legion and VFW Color Guard.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dan was born on May 30, 1947 in Harvey, ND.  He was the son of Carroll and Lenora (Schimke) Bienek.  He grew up in Harvey graduating from the Harvey High School in 1965.  He attended Bismarck State College for one year.  He was drafted into the Army on January 2, 1968 and served in Long Bin, Viet Nam for a year.  He was honorably discharged on August 5, 1969.  He married Janet Rudd on May 15, 1970.  He managed Tractor Supply Stores in South Dakota and Nebraska before becoming a sales manager for Gambles.  In 1980 he purchased a Gambles Store in Tell City, Indiana.  The family moved to Colorado in 1986 and he was a commercial developer.  Janet passed away in 2006.  Dan moved to his hometown of Harvey where he spent his retirement years enjoying his hobbies of watching Nebraska Cornhusker Football, occasional trips to the casino and collecting train sets.

Dan is survived by his daughters, Dawn Bienek of New Bern, NC, Jennifer Smith of Greensboro, NC and Kristan Bienek of New Bern, NC; four grandchildren, Khyleah, Caleb, Jadon and Josiah; brother James Bienek of Harvey.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents Carroll and Lenora and his wife Janet.
